A blog for Catholic men that seeks to encourage virtue, the pursuit of holiness and the art of true masculinity.
In this episode of The Catholic Gentleman, Sam and John discuss a great concern that parents and grandparents have when reflecting on the future of their children. Will they continue to be Catholic? We detail ways that we as men and fathers can truly guide and help our children maintain and embrace the Catholic faith after they leave the home.

I just finished watching Ep. 54 How to Keep Your Children Catholic. First of all I would like to say that it was a very good episode, and very informative. The issue I have (or at least my difficulty) is the approach to things is almost always that of a “normal” schedule. Having family prayers in the morning and the evening works well for those who have an 8-4 (9-5), M-F job. I work third shift (11-7) and with a 4 & 2 rotation (4 nights on, 2 off). I do my best to create some level of consistency, but it is sometimes difficult to achieve. (Oh, yeah, I’m also a vol. firefighter which only adds to the inconsistency). I don’t mean this to be such a critique, but maybe offer some thoughts to those who may have a less traditional work schedule. Thank you for your time and God Bless.

Thanks, Robert. All good points. We tried to keep the episode on a board and general level, but it will take unique form, individual discernment, and effort for each and every individual. I currently have 3 jobs, and one of them is a professional trumpet player with evening rehearsals and performances, so I understand your struggle. God bless and prayers as you work to live by example.
