Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati
Born in 1901, Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati was a man living in the world and abided with God daily. He let this be shown through his interactions with his friends and the poor in Turin, Italy, where he was born.
He grew up and came from a wealthy family and is commonly known for sharing this wealth with others. He utilized any extra spending money for bus fares and meals and gave that to the poor. He also made an effort to evangelize his friends by bringing them to Mass. Many details of these interactions are not known because he was not looking for attention in doing these acts of charity.
In this, he still lived a normal and abundant life full of sports and mountain climbing. He enjoyed theater and reading.
Bl. Pier took advantage of the many devotional opportunities that the Catholic Church has to offer. The Eucharist and Mary were the foundations of his life. In his life, he became a Lay Dominican, joined the Marian Sodality, and the Apostleship of Prayer. These communities helped Bl. Pier have structure and accountability in his life.
Because of Bl. Pier Giorgio’s lived relationship with God, many were impacted by his life and actions. He is famously known for having many poor show up to his funeral.
A challenge for this week is to create homeless bags or materials to give to the homeless when you encounter them. Make them and keep them in your car.

Bl. PierGiorgio is also a great saint for single souls. His love of a particular lady in his social circle had to be sacrificed to what he felt was his family’s greater good, offered to God…and it may have well been lethal heartbreak. 💔 He planned to enter the workforce to act as a missionary among the men, having admitted no sensation of a calling to the priesthood.
